Event Details

Moravian and INVOC devised the M&H back in 2008 and have taken turns to organize it each year.

This year we're delighted that BASOC have joined the "M&H family" meaning that the 2017 event has the potential to be bigger and better then ever before (if that is possible). It will be based from Dulnain Bridge village hall.

The junior competition, previously for under 17s (age on the day of the event) is now opened up to Under 18s

BASOC have published event details on their web site with the following age classes.

Under 10 (white standard) 1.6 Km

Under 12 (yellow standard) 2.5 Km

Under 14 (orange standard) 2.7 Km

Under 16 (long orange) 4.5 Km
Under 18 (light green) 3.7 Km

Girls Open (any age) (green standard) 5.0 Km

Boys Open (any age) (blue standard) 6.2 Km

Here's what those colour codes mean

Trophies for the winners and medals for 2nd and 3rd.

Because this event is pitched at a standard to make it inclusive for everyone, no matter how inexperienced, many Moravian juniors will find the course for their age group too easy. You may "run up" in an older age group if you want a better test of navigation ability rather than a test of sheer speed! It is very common for younger children who are experienced orienteers, because of their advanced technical skills, to win or gain medals in much older categories.

Older juniors who are not confident at running the colour standard required for their age group are very welcome to run on an easier colour course, but you will not be deemed competitive for medals.

Adult runners, and non-M&H juniors can enter any colour of course, as you would at any normal event.

Fuller details of the event are on BASOC's web site now, together with a link to on-line pre-entry for which the closing date is Monday 29th May.
